Commemorative Lincoln MInt. The medal's obverse design depicts an image of an African-American Union Soldier who is shown wearing a Union uniform and holding a rifle. Below his image, four additional African-American soldiers are shown running in uniform while carrying rifles. On the reverse, Confederate and United States flags are pictured intersecting at the top of the medal. Several rifles appear behind the flags, and the image of an eagle is placed at the center of the intersection. At the medal's bottom, a decorative border lines the edge.
