MLK- The Playboy Interview
by Alex Haley
In January 1965, Playboy published Alex Haley’s interview with the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., shortly after King received the Nobel Peace Prize. King used Playboy magazine to get his message out to the white, middle class audience that Playboy served. It was vital to sustaining the movement’s momentum. A tactic used by Malcolm X a year earlier.
